Overview of the Program
The Advanced Certificate in Empowering Women in Politics (ACEWP) is a six-month programme offered in Tamil and Sinhala by the Harmony Centre, University of Vavuniya. The University Council has approved this new curriculum. Moreover, the curriculum development committee of the Harmony Centre prepared it for 15 credits according to SLQF Level two standards.
The programme focuses on developing the competencies of women in politics. Specifically, it empowers women and builds their capacity in political participation and decision-making. Furthermore, it provides training for women who aspire to engage actively in politics. The Advanced Certificate in Empowering Women in Politics covers two key areas. First, it builds competency in politics, development planning, and management. Second, it develops skills in empowerment, leadership, democracy, and governance. In short, the programme aims to provide women with a wide range of knowledge and ability to effectively manage development programmes with good governance in politics.
Sri Lanka needs more professional women in rural, urban, regional, and national development. Therefore, the Advanced Certificate in Empowering Women in Politics will increase the employability of women in educational organisations and communities. As a result, women who hold this certificate gain strong opportunities to find jobs or advance in their current roles with competitive skills. Additionally, a detailed description of the curriculum and examination structure is available on the Harmony Centre website.
