Bharat-Sri Lanka Higher Education Summit aims to foster academic and research collaboration between India and Sri Lankan Universities, providing platform for students and faculty exchange, joint/dual degree programs and collaborative research initiatives.
The event was organized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) on 28th January 2025 at Hotel Galadari, Colombo. Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General of AIU, and Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak, President of AIU, represented the organization. From Sri Lanka, the Higher Education Minister and Senior Prof. Kapila Seneviratne, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), participated, along with representatives from various Sri Lankan universities.
Snr. Prof. A. Atputharajah, Vice-Chancellor, University of Vavuniya and Dr. Koperunthevy Kalainathan, Director/ International Division participated in this event.
International Division engaged in discussions with various universities from India regarding academic collaborations, student and staff scholarships, academic events, and potential Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between institutions. Several universities expressed interest, and some agreed to sign an MoU with the University of Vavuniya.
