IEEE ANDAHARAYA-2021

The IEEE Student Branch of Vavuniya Campus of the University of Jaffna proudly presented “”IEEE අඬහැරය” on the theme of “Udara Wannama” on 7th of August 2021 at 6.00 p.m. with 217 participants. This was introduced and organized by the IEEE Student Activities Committee of Sri Lanka Section in collaboration with the IEEE Student Society of Vavuniya Campus of the University of Jaffna for the first time.

“IEEE Andaharaya” is a membership development program that held encouraging membership growth and retention, which also focused on reciting the Royalty(Udara) by expressing the majesty of King Narendra Singha –the last king of the Kandyan Kingdom and Bandara Vanniyan the last King of Vanni Kingdom.

The Branch Counselor initiated the program with his valuable speech. And followed by the guest speakers Mihindu Ranasinghe, Software Engineer at Sysco LABS, Industry Relations Sub-Com Chairperson at IEEE SL SAC, Former Sri Lanka Section Lead at IEEEXtreme 14.0 & Mithushan Jalangan-WebMaster, IEEE Region 10 Young Professionals shared their experience, importance, and benefits of being an IEEE member and also rendered a brief explanation about the theme “Udara Wannama”. This was done in two languages –Sinhala and Tamil by the two guest speakers in two separate breakout rooms based on the languages the participants select, which consisted of more than 80 participants in allocated breakout rooms

The future events and the events done by the student Branch were presented by an executive committee member. Kahoot Quiz competition boosted the participants which selected the best 3 participants with their responses to the questions that were raised by the event host. This event encouraged the young non IEEE members to be future members.

The event successfully concluded with the Vote of Thanks by the current Chair of the IEEE Student Branch Vavuniya Campus of the University of Jaffna.
