Physical Education unit and Table Tennis team players has planned to organize an open tournament for Table Tennis this is the first time in our university. Which Scheduled on 12th and 13th of October 2024. This tournament for university students who are currently studying and also passed out.
The main purpose of this matches is to popularize Table Tennis in our University and attract everyone to play and participate in Table Tennis matches, practices and upcoming Inter University Championship and Sri Lanka University Games.
As per the schedule the Opening Ceremony began at 8.00 a.m. with National anthem, Lighting of oil lamp, Welcome speech by the Instructress of Physical Education Unit and the Chief Guest speech, and ended before 9.00 a.m. The Chief Guest Prof A.Atputharajah, Vice- Chancellor of University of Vavuniya, Special Guests Mr.L.Ramramanan, Bursar, University of Vavuniy and Mr.Jude Leon, Manager of Table Tennis Men team joined us with our Physical Education Unit Coordinater Mr.Sivasegaran and Instructress Ms.G.Thushyanthy and Table tennis visiting coach Mrs.D.Kokulavathany. They tossed for the first three matches which were about to start at 9.00 a.m. and cordially opened the event.
All the matches happened according to the schedule and ended on time on both days. Before the lunch time the participation certificates were awarded to the participants by the Instructress Ms.G.Thushyanthy. The Closing ceremony was begun at 5.15 p.m. on 13th of October all the guests who attended the opening ceremony joined with us. The ceremony started with the lighting of the oil lamp and welcome speech by the Men – Table Tennis team Captain, Mr.L.R.S.Hemachandra.
The Certificates, Medals and Champion cups were awarded for each category by all the guests. The Chief guest gave a speech and with the vote of thanks by the Women Table tennis team Captain Ms.Ananth
