Dr. Jennifer George, Head of the Computing Department, working with Equity, Equality, and Disability-Inclusive, Goldsmiths University of London visited the University of Vavuniya on 5th & 06th June 2023.

 Her initial thoughts are to create resources and understand the various disabilities, from sensory to learning difficulties, then look at how technology can be used to support them in the learning context and an advanced version of how to get to a place where the entire institution is disability inclusive.

 She discussed with the vice-chancellor, Deans, Heads of Departments, and administrative officers disability issues, existing accessibility, and policy developments. She explains how technology can remove the barriers to the learning ability of people with disabilities.

 She met with the IT Development Committee and shared information regarding how the LMS can be modified for easy access for disabled students she shared her experience at Goldsmiths University, London.

 She also had discussions with academic staff and student representatives related to the barriers to learning and how we can use technology to remove these learning barriers for students.

 She conducted a workshop on Technical Accessibility for Faculty of Technological Studies students and access to pull together the correct resources that already exist and develop what doesn’t exist 

She discussed with SCPD Committee Members regarding the policy development for Disability-Inclusive.
