The Workshop on “Establishment Code”was organized by the Staff Development Centre and University Business Linkage, of University of Vavuniya on 21st February 2025 from 02.00 pm to 5.00 pm at the Smart Lecture Hall, Faculty of Applied Science, University of Vavuniya to All Staff members.
Emeritus Prof. Gamini Senanayake, Former Vice Chancellor, University of Ruhuna & Council member, University of Vavuniya as the Resource person for this Workshop. Participants gained more knowledge about the Establishment Code. During the workshop, participants learned important details about the Establishment Code. Prof. Senanayake explained what is meant by “Establishment” and “Code”, the UGC Establishment Code (UGC-E-Code), and the main components of the legislation. He also gave an overview of the University System and Administrative Structure, including the Common Seal. Other topics covered included Recruitment Procedures and Appointments, Transfers, Release, Reversion, and Termination of Appointments, Salaries and Study Facilities for Teachers and Other Employees, General Conduct and Discipline, University Property Management, Handling of Property Losses, etc.
The session helped staff members understand the rules and guidelines related to university administration, ensuring they are aware of their rights, responsibilities, and procedures within the higher education system.
