Harmony Centre

About the Centre

Welcome to the official website of the Harmony Centre of the University of Vavuniya. First, the Centre was established to build a stronger network among students, staff and communities. In addition, it offers a more cohesive and resilient platform for interreligious, cultural and societal engagement.

The Harmony Centre of the University of Vavuniya was established on 25th September 2021 as a leading Centre. Accordingly, its vision is “To be a leading center of excellence in creating inter and intra harmony amongst diverse groups for sustainable change”.

First, the Harmony Centre promotes learning to increase awareness of the diverse ethnic and religious traditions. In addition, it provides training to build capacity in varied discussion and involvement. Furthermore, it engages individuals, groups and communities to foster communication and interaction. As a result, the Centre helps to foster peace and supports local and global development.

Vision

In line with the Vision of the University of Vavuniya, the Harmony Centre strives “to be a leading center of excellence in creating inter and intra harmony amongst diverse groups for sustainable change”. Therefore, it works to build peace and understanding across ethnic, cultural and religious communities.

Mission

The Mission of the Centre is to be a facilitator that aims:

  • To promote inter-ethnic, intercultural and inter-religious interactions for peaceful living (Training)
  • To deepen understanding of different ethnic and religious cultures (Learning)
  • To build bridges and relationships among groups and communities, to create harmony and to sustain regional and national development (Engagement)
