Training Program on the Concept of Harmony & Reconciliation 22&23/01/2022

A training program for the Management Committee members was organized by the Institute of National Security Studies and the Harmony Center. It was held on January 22 and 23, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Institute’s conference room at the Institute of National Security Studies (INSS), 8th Floor, Suhurupaya, Battaramulla, Sri Lanka, with the goal of giving participants the chance to experience and learn about Harmony practices and to gain knowledge.

The Institute of National Security Studies’ Director, Professor Rohan Gunaratna, was instrumental in setting up the training program. This program included thirteen (13) participants, comprising nine (09) students from all three faculties and four (04) faculty members.

 

Future Ready Youth Leadership – Residential Training

With the assistance of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Centre for Leadership Development (NCLD), Yodagama, Empilipitiya, and the Harmony Center/University of Vavuniya sponsored a five-day residential training program for future-ready youth leaders. There were 149 participants overall from the University of Vavuniya, with students from every field and from every ethnic and religious background. This residential training includes a variety of programs, such as group activities, physical activities, and multiple objectives for the students to complete addressing leadership, a meditation program, physical fitness activities, in- and out-bound training, and personal development.

The training program began with an inauguration ceremony and a welcoming address by Mr. A.B.M. Ashraf, director of NCLD. The principal guests were Prof. T. Mangaleshwaran, Vice Chancellor, University of Vavuniya, Mr. Anuratha Vijayakone, Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Prof. Premakumara de Silva, Chairman of the standing Committee on SRC, University Grants Commission, and social reconciliation, and Prof. Shanthi Nandhana Wijesinghe, Chairperson, Training, Education and Research Committee, Harmony Center, University of Vavuniya. Then, the distinguished principal guests spoke about how young people can help improve the country and continued five days programs with personal, regional and nation development training programs.
