Inter-Faculty Freshers Championship – 2023 was held from April to May 2023 at the University of Vavuniya premises. A total of three faculties competed for the crown of Inter-Faculty Freshers Championship 2023. The championship was held for nearly 15 days in a total of 10 sports. This year, freshers got a chance to showcase their talent in 10 sports.

More than 700 freshers’ students were fighting to bring glory to their faculty. After a very tense battle of 15 days, the Faculty of Applied Science was crowned the Overall Champion with 287 points, while the Faculty of Business Studies won overall Runner-up with 283 points.  Faculty of Technology studies overall 2nd runners-up position with 195 points.

The Awarding Ceremony of Inter-Faculty Freshers Championship was held on the 03rd of January 2024 at the Auditorium of Faculty of Business studies of the University of Vavuniya under the patronage of the Vice Chancellor, Prof.T.Mangaleswaran, as the Chief Guest for the ceremony. Dr.M.Kayanan, Chairman Sports Advisory Board(UOV), Mr.N.Rajavisahan, Registrar(UOV), and Mr.L.Ram Ramanan, Bursar(UOV) ,as the Guest of Honors for the ceremony. Director and Coordinator of Physical Education, Members of Sports Advisory Board, Support center for Person with Disabilities Coordinator and many invitees also participated in the ceremony.

The Freshers Meet Awarding Ceremony commenced with the symbolic lighting of the oil lamp, radiating a warm welcome to the incoming talents. The event unfolded with a captivating welcome dance. A gracious welcome speech followed, resonating with the spirit of unity and achievement. The prize-giving ceremony recognized outstanding contributions, paving the way for a vibrant dance performance by the University students. The Chairman of the Sports Advisory Board shared insights, bridging the gap between sports and academia. The evening was further elevated with a musical interlude before the distinguished Chief Guest and Vice Chancellor delivered inspiring speeches. Recognition was bestowed upon students who participated in the University International Sports Festival in Russia, followed by the awarding of the best players by the Vice Chancellor. The crowning moment arrived as the Overall Champion was announced by the Vice Chancellor and presented by the Chief Guest and Guest of Honors. The ceremony concluded on a note of gratitude with the Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the collective efforts that made the evening a resounding success.
