The HR Club of the Faculty of Business Studies University of Vavuniya successfully organized an art competition on the theme “Unity in Diversity” on 6th February 2025. This competition aimed to encourage students to express their thoughts on cultural harmony, inclusivity, and the beauty of diversity through artistic creativity. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various faculties, making it a remarkable success. The competition was held at the BH2 Lecture Hall, Faculty of Business Studies and commenced at 3.30 PM with an inaugural speech by the President of the HR Club, who highlighted the importance of unity in a diverse society. Participants were given one hour to complete their artwork.
A total of 18 students participated in the competition, presenting a diverse range of artistic interpretations of the theme. The artworks depicted messages of peace, togetherness, cultural richness, and social harmony. Some of the key elements portrayed in the paintings included interwoven hands and flags symbolizing cultural integration, multicultural festivals showcasing religious and traditional harmony, and diverse communities holding hands to represent solidarity. The participants were evaluated based on creativity and originality, relevance to the theme, artistic skill and technique, and overall presentation and impact. The evaluations will be one by experts and three best drawings will be selected.
The competition served as a platform for students to showcase their artistic talents while reinforcing the values of unity, diversity, and inclusivity. The enthusiasm and talent displayed by the students have inspired the club to organize similar events in the future to continue fostering creativity and inclusivity within the university.
