Vavuniya University’s new Basketball court and renovated Badminton courts were inaugurated on 31st October 2023. The chief guest was Prof. T. Mangaleswaran (Vice Chancellor of Vavuniya University), the guest of honor, Mr. Kushil Gunasekara (Founder and Chief Trustee of the Foundation of Goodness), and Dr. Malathi Waran (Director of Vanni Hope), who inaugurated the Badminton courts, which are fully sponsored by the Vanni Hope Foundation and facilitated by the Foundation of Goodness.
The first match of the new Badminton court was made by Prof. T. Mangaleswaran and Mr. Kushil Gunasekara. After the opening, exhibition matches were held by the University Badminton team.
The opening of the new basketball court was done by Prof. T. Mangaleswaran (Vice Chancellor of Vavuniya University), Mr. Kushil Gunasekara (Founder and Chief Trustee of the Foundation of Goodness), Mr. Tharindu Fernando (Coach of the Sri Lankan Basketball Team), and Ms. Epciba Washington Clay (the Sri Lankan Basketball Team Member) which is sponsored by the Tonato Foundation and facilitated by the Foundation of Goodness. After the opening, the university’s Basketball team held exhibition matches to play in it, and Ms. Epciba Washington Clay also participated in the match.
The Foundation of Goodness donated Basketballs, Badminton rackets, Shuttlecocks and some Books to the University of Vavuniya, and they were received by Prof. T. Mangaleswaran and University staff.
