We are delighted to share the successful completion of the Food Stall held on 3rd December 2024 near Environmental Chmistry Laboratory (ECL), Department of Bioscience, Faculty of Applied Science. This event was proudly organized by the second-year students of the Department of Bioscience, in collaboration with the Environmental Science Society, as part of the course ENS 2123 – Food, Nutrition, and Environment. Ms. K.G.S. Madhushani,( Practical In-Charge of the subject) coordinated the activity and guide the students with consultation of Dr (Mrs) J. Nimalan, lecturer In-Charge of the subject .
The food stall focused on promoting the importance of healthy, homemade food choices while raising awareness of the nutritional benefits of pulses and legumes.
A variety of delicious, wholesome treats were offered, including:
- Healthy Salad
- Corn Soup
- Magic Corn
- Popcorn
- Cassava Chips
- Boiled Cassava
The event saw an overwhelming response from staff and students across all three faculties, creating a lively atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and collaboration. The proceeds from the stall will be entirely dedicated to the Annual Nutritional Assessment Programme for Preschool Students, ensuring that the funds are used for a meaningful and impactful cause.
This initiative not only brought the community together but also highlighted the importance of integrating academic learning with practical, real-world applications. The success of the food stall is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the students and the support of everyone who participated.
